LEON Madsen admits he was “shocked” to lose his Grand Prix place after being overlooked for a seeded wild card berth following a troubled 2024 in his personal life away from the track. But now he’s targeting a swift return to the World Championship chase, as he reveals in this week’s magazine: “I had a rough season last year but everyone knows why. That was the first year when I have struggled, so to not get handed a wild card was a massive disappointment. You could feel it was a lack of understanding from the people of why I was performing like I did in the GP last year. I want to get back in as fast as possible. I don’t want to sit out for a few years. My age is also catching up on me. I am 36 now – 37 at the end of the year. I want to get back in there. It was not fun to get the message that I wouldn’t be part of it this year but I have kind of accepted it now.”
