REDCAR'S Charles Wright might have seen his life take a different path away from speedway if he'd followed through on thoughts of quitting. But he decided to stick with it and now draws inspiration from a former team-mate who went onto big things. In this week's magazine, he reveals: “In 2013 I took a step back from speedway. I just did the National League, was working and then got the opportunity with Somerset. I thought I’ll give it one more go. From then on, I’ve never looked back. It’s hard to believe now that I almost quit. But Somerset signed me in 2013 and I’ve gone on from there. Jason Doyle was in that Somerset side of 2013. I think we won everything that year in the Premier League. Doyley is my inspiration, he’s worked hard to get where he wants to be and there’s no reason why I can’t do the same."
