Over the last ten years Jazzwise has become the biggest-selling jazz magazine in Britain. In fact it now outsells all the other UK jazz magazines put together. With agenda-setting news and comment, a comprehensive gig guide, in-depth features, exclusive interviews and over 100 CDs, books and DVDs reviewed in each issue it’s become widely acknowledged as the monthly music bible for serious music fans.
Regular features include the latest news in the jazz world; CD, book and DVD reviews; a guide to the best gigs and concerts around the country and your letters to the editor.

The September issue of Jazzwise is out now, and it’s John Coltrane at 100 edition – celebrating one of the true giants of jazz. In this special issue, we take a deep dive into his seismic musical achievements, including his classic albums Giant Steps and A Love Supreme. We also feature a special first-hand report on his only UK tour in 1961, exploring how he took Newcastle by storm, alongside a roundup of the major Coltrane tribute concerts happening across the UK this autumn, featuring artists such as Joe Lovano, Emma Rawicz, and Branford Marsalis.
We travel to Norway to shine a light on some of the movers and shakers of that ever-evolving scene, with conversations with guitarist Hedvig Mollestad and prog-jazz outfit RYMDEN. Elsewhere, former Miles Davis saxophonist Gary Bartz discusses the Charlie Parker album that changed his life in Turning Point, while we catch up with Bristol avant-garde saxophonist Larry Stabbins, who returns in fiery form after a decade spent sailing the high seas. Star drummer Cindy Blackman Santana also talks us through her hard-hitting new album, Coherence.
In Brilliant Corners, Val Wilmer revisits some of her favourite Broadway haunts from the 1960s, while New York bassist David Ambrosio explains why he’s rediscovering civil rights-era gems from the Blue Note archives. Elsewhere in the issue, rising star trumpeter Audrey Powne and saxophonist Marli Sheard feature as ones to watch in Taking Off; Polish piano star Leszek Możdżer selects the album he can’t live without in Takes Five; and pianist Kris Davis discusses her journey into jazz in The Player.
