Replica Man is a bi-annual magazine by the Re-Edition magazine team, focusing on male fashion and art photography. Often including street-cast models, the magazine takes an adventurous approach to exploring male aesthetic.

For Issue 16, Ben Whishaw takes one of our covers, photographed by Josh Hight and styled by Julian Ganio, in conversation with Hight about acting, music, poetry, cinema, Peter Hujar and the elusive space between the actor and the character.

Tom Sturridge joins the issue, alongside Earl Cave, photographed and interviewed in a conversation with Jemima Kirke. Cave talks about acting, music, Sunny Dancer, Sally Potter’s Alma, growing up between different creative worlds and the importance of bringing something of yourself to a role rather than simply reproducing what is already there.

Artist Charlie Gosling meets Jake Chapman for an expansive conversation about painting, portraiture, the sitter, art and the relationship between an artist and the people who enter their work. Gosling’s paintings, rooted in portraiture but deliberately resistant to conventional ideas of beauty and representation, form another central part of the issue.

Replica Man 16 brings together a group of men working across film, music, art and fashion — different generations, disciplines and approaches, connected by a particular attitude towards making things, rather than simply being seen.
