JUSTIN Sedgmen is back in British racing – and how! The Australian returned to the SGB Championship in style with new club Birmingham posting back-to-back double figure scores in two meetings against Oxford. In this week’s edition, he rails against the promoters’ hire ‘em, fire ‘em approach: “At the moment, the UK has such a rider shortage and I think they want to look after the people who are riding here. It is a big commitment, it costs a lot of money to get yourself set up and clubs should concentrate on their rider availability. As soon as there is an injury, there is a guest, then another guest, then another guest. It looks pretty bad. As for the ruthlessness, it is not really needed. Unless there is an injury or someone doesn’t want to ride any more, there should be no need for it. A rider should be given some warning if they are going to be dropped.”
