BRITISH speedway will return to free-to-air national television for the first time since the 1980s on Saturday.

Premiership CEO Phil Morris has confirmed that a deal has been struck to show the British Final live on ITV4. In this week's magazine, Morris declares: “This is one of the best news stories we have had in a long time and we need the fans to get behind this. If you are at home this Saturday, switch your TV on to ITV4. If your auntie used to watch speedway, get her to tune in. Get your brothers, your sisters and all the family to watch. Encourage them to give us a bit of time and watch the show. It will make a difference for us. This could be the turning point that puts us in a better direction. It’s really great news for British speedway. There have been some tough times, as everybody knows, but to be linked with ITV going forward could be massive for the sport."
